I love what I do, Do you?

I love what I do but I often am looked at like I have two heads. I support not only one but TWO multi level marketing companies!!! And why would an individual with a fantastic education and career options choose to do this? For me its simple I see the amazing opportunity and the changing scene of our economy. But most importantly they allow me to further my personal mission of health and holistic wellness education support in such a beautiful way. As well as allowing me to remain at home with my children and continue homeschooling. I find that for most individuals who hold opposition to the industry simply have a lack of education and understanding of the Direct Sales market of today. Holding opinions based on misinformation and closed minds. I seek to bring us all to a place of full enlightenment, breaking down walls of superiority and judgment for that which we do not understand moving towards mutual respect for one another.

The reality is every business in our modern world has a tiered system. There is an owner or board, a CEO, upper level management, supervisors and staff from service to maintenance. In this system only one person can be at the top and there is not much room or potential for growth available to those below them. Even if we are a traditional business owner, your reach can only really extend within the capital and energy available to you. Your footprint in a specific field and these boundaries limit you and your potential. Why has it become less threatening and more comfortable for so many to support corporations over family and friends? Like somehow these multimillion dollar companies have your best interests at heart? I spend hours carefully considering my customers needs and researching option available to support them.  As well as countless hours personally supporting them on their journey and how to implement the tools and training offered by not only the companies I represent, but my life experiences and my secondary education. Not to mention the immense support within the communities aligned with the companies themselves. When a person is involved in network marketing they are often selling you an opportunity and the product is a sidenote. That has always turned me OFF!!! I have no interest in that! And I’m sure you don’t either. What I AM interested in though is a fantastic product that I would purchase on a regular basis whether or not there was a business opportunity involved. I personally feel very strongly that the direct sales industry is the new family corner store of our generation. Our economy shifted at such a rate that the overhead of maintaining a small family business became very difficult and sadly many were forced to shut down. I believe in the direct sales model because I feel it is putting the power back in the hands of the people; fighting back against a flawed system. I am encouraged by an honest (no they are not all honest – do your research) company choosing to redirect a large marketing budget to support the individuals who believe in their product and would be using, conversing about, and recommending it anyway. In turn the opportunity is given to share in the profits of the company’s growth. A hard-working individual is able to make a living and receive payment for as much or as little work as they choose to put in and the level of income will reflect their level of effort they chose to output. I am very thankful and encouraged by this changing economy. Technology advancements are excelling and with it job security declines. For many that is a very scary reality. But it opens doors to an opportunity for change. I see this as our generation’s push back and beautiful solution with equality for all, combating the flawed systems we grew up within – watching our grandparents retire and go to work at Walmart because there is little to no pension available to them. I have met incredible friends and mentored under some of the most brilliant people I have ever met.  I am so very lucky because I adore my job. It feeds my soul to support others. So many of our lives revolve around our job and the way we make our income. There has to be a better way than the current failing system. The direct sales model differs from a retail system in a few important ways. Those ways are what makes it superior and one of equal opportunity for all involved. I dream of a world were we link arms endless opportunity available for those who are committed and willing to work for it. That social status and western opinions on their education do not limit them. Technology is accelerating at such an incredible rate and job security as a result is declining right along with it! On Monday morning the heart attack rate increases by 35% that is an eye-opening statistic that paints a very clear and sad picture. Yes there are many practical career oriented majors available at various education centers to our children and ourselves. They are offered because we have created a need and appetite for them, not because employers necessarily value them. Many classified ads I see these days simply ask for a degree or certification. They are not even concerned about the area it was obtained in. Because all they are looking for is an intelligent well-rounded individual who is eager to learn and able to be taught. Having a certification helps lend towards the idea that you might fit into that category. Much like diamonds some secondary education programs hold only the value we have artificially placed on them. The fact that one has a degree in publishing, literature, graphic design or video game design does not mean someone is going to hire you in the field . Or provide the level of pay that would be required to both support your life and repay the large loan taken out for the degree. In fact these mentioned areas are more largely based on talent and skills. We can learn incredible skills from our elders and mentors willing to teach and foster us. WE all have unlimited potential within us and sometimes its best discovered and fostered by someone who truly cares for us and really sees it. We all had that “one” teacher. What if you could find that person you are truly feed and inspired by. Work with them and come away from it with a sustainable income? I love mentoring new business minded individuals in discovering their incredible personal potential. Now lets break down some facts about the industry. Direct sales are NOT a pyramid scheme. Pyramid scheme did not have a product! They are illegal and there are large regulating bodies in place to monitor any illegal activity. Within direct sales, a company and business builder can choose to avoid all the overhead involved with marketing and launching a product, hiring the staff, buying or renting space and conducting interviews to try to find a committed motivated passionate staff. In the direct sales model your staff comes to you driven and determined ready to align with you because they believe in what you offer it is a mutual respect that is mutually beneficial. When looking at companies to align with ensure the Product is something you believe in and would use regardless for the business opportunity or not. Investigate the compensation plan and if it is well written and fair and within it income potential is often only limited by the work you are willing to put into it. Did you know that its very simple to out rank and out earn the individual who enrolled and introduced you? Another very common misconception. You will get out of your business what you put into it. It is NOT a get rich quick scheme and if a company is marketed that way they are misrepresenting themselves and probably do not have a good product to share. Out of all the product users I have in the companies I choose to partner and align myself with only a small few are building a business. That is because the products themselves are amazing and offer incredible health and healing benefits creating the ability to stand alone regardless of the business. In 2013 the NFL grossed over 9.5 billion, Music industry 15 billion, Movie 88 billion, Natural Food industry 90 billion the direct sale industry grossed 178 billion in 2013 alone and there has been a steady increase yearly. Out of all of those industries we can’t all be in the NFL,. Movies or Music but we can all align ourselves with a reputable direct sales company and earn an honest sustainable income. For those I work with their income allows them to offset that cost of living holistically and green. One of the biggest challenges in today world is that of finances but is within your power and mine no matter our history to change that. Even Forbes is advising to find a good Multi level marketing company to get involved with to earn a fair, secure sustainable income. In 2016 over 20 million people in North America were involved in direct sales and the industry grossed 36 billion in growth from the previous year it was a 5% growth! That type of increase is rare in the growth is going directly to the people who have alighted with thees companies not a CEO. I feel that we have been taught to accept our current system as superior because it feeds the agenda of the 1%. It keeps the rich, rich and the middle man in the middle. Not only financially but mentally physically and emotionally. Over worked underpaid and under constant pressure. This does not lend itself towards an enviroment ripe for change. Personally I pray for equality in the world and I see this a beautiful opportunity to offer that. I am able to share my experience with those I love and care about. I am able to link arms and support them in their own business, teaching them to fish rather than giving them a one time gift. I have incredible value to offer this world and so do you. Please do not allow misconceptions and pre-judgment to limit your growth as a person and in your chosen career path. The face of our economy is changing and I desire to support everyone in true whole wellness lifestyle success. I am a heath and wellness coach who is rooted in early childhood development. I began my career as a Montessori educator who specializes in early years development. I loved my job and the families I was blessed to work with. But I was so drained by the mindset of a pill for every ill.  I knew that there had to be a better way and I have been searching finding freedom and teaching in it ever since Discovering true release from the conventional systems. I am a warrior woman for sure objective thought, that just because its “how things are done” dose not mean it is right or what going to work for myself or our family. I encourage you to truly consider the facts and thoughts presented here. This is a legitimate respectable career path with equal opportunity.  I would love to hear your thoughts. I truly enjoy engaging with my readers and am not afraid of respectful opposing options in conversation I believe in that space is where true growth can occur.

Drink to your Health

I want to begin sharing on the basic foundations of health. My aim is to support a undersanding and general awarness. You do NOT have to be a professional to have a fantastic grasp on the functionality of your body and how to best support it. I want to empower individulas to full awaness, objective though and taking their power back from a broken medical system that is sadly dissapointing and failing so many of us!IMG_7545

Water does you body good! Chronic dehydration is a condition which affects many individuals and they are more or less unaware. It contributes to degenerated disease, shortens life span and negatively impacts general quality of life. Water is essential for the proper mechanical and physiological functioning of everything within our bodies. It is the most common molecule in the human body without it your body cannot function normally. Next to oxygen water is the most essential element for your survival. Most common cause of daytime fatigue is mild dehydration. Water helps your body maintain a HEALTHY WEIGHT. Weight management is one of the top reasons individuals seek support and guidance. But we really do have all the tools we need to manage our general heath and wellness on our own. Adequate water intake is one of those tools. It enables your body to excrete  excess waste through our elimination system. The kidneys and liver use it to help flush your system of unused matter, as do your intestines. Water plays a key role in helping move the food you’ve eaten through your intestinal tract. If we are consuming predominantly beverages that are NOT water we are increasing our bodies work load, and it is forced into tons of unnecessary extra work filtering through the beverage to get to what it actually needs. This is increasing the amount of unnecessary waste and taxing your systems. Without adequate water intake is very difficult for the body to remove unused matter so it is often stored unnecessarily causing various health issues from minor to major. How much water should we be drinking? A few factors come into play when considering how much you should consume. Your activity level, any medications you may be on, if you drink coffee and how much muscle you have. A simple formula is to divide your body weight in half then divide by 8 to find the number of cups per day you should consume. But if that is too much math aim for 3L. Increasing your intake over a few days to gradually get to 3L.

  1. Water generates electrical and magnetic energy inside each and every cell of the body; it provides the power to live.
  2. Water prevents DNA damage and makes its repair mechanisms more efficient – less abnormal DNA is made.
  3. Water greatly increases the efficiency of the immune system in the bone marrow, where the immune system is formed (all its mechanisms) – including its efficiency against cancer.
  4. Water is the main solvent of all foods, vitamins, and minerals. It is used in the breakdown of food into smaller particles and their eventual metabolism and assimilation.
  5. Water increases the efficiency of red blood cells in collecting oxygen in the lungs.
  6. Water clears toxic waste from different parts of the body and takes it to the liver and kidneys for disposal.
  7. Water is the main lubricant in the joint spaces and helps prevent arthritis and back pain.
  8. Water is used in the spinal discs to make them “shock-absorbing water cushions”.
  9. Water is the best lubricating laxative and prevents constipation.
  10. Water prevents clogging of arteries in the heart and brain, and helps reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes.
  11. Water gives us power and electrical energy for all brain functions, most particularly thinking.
  12. Drink to a healthier you!
  13. Water is directly needed for the efficient manufacture of all neurotransmitters, including serotonin.
  14. Water can help prevent attention deficit disorder in children and adults.
  15. Water restores normal sleep rhythms.
  16. Water makes the skin smoother and decreases the effects of aging.
  17. Water decreases premenstrual pain and hot flashes.
  18. Dehydration prevents sex hormone production – one of the primary causes of impotence and loss of libido.
  19. Water reduces the incidence of morning sickness in pregnancy.
  20. Water helps prevent the loss of memory as we age. It helps reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and Lou Gehrig’s disease.
  21. Water helps reverse addictive urges, including those for caffeine, alcohol, and some drugs.

Drink up and cheers to a healthier you ❤

Dragon Manor Farms

I awoke one morning with this heavy realization that this was in fact happening. Our family was moving and not just into another neighborhood or town but an entirely new Country. We would be getting on a plane in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada and flying to Bangor Maine USA to get into a car and drive another 2h on to the Island of Mount Dessert to a small town on the coast called Southwest Harbor. We would leave our 1400sq ft modern home to rent a 800sq ft home built in 1865 that cost almost as much to heat as it did to rent!! As I began the packing process we quickly realized relocating all of our possessions was not in our budget. I don’t think our belongings were even worth the 10,000 plus dollars it would have been to move them, but were the memories? As I began to sort though the baby clothing, toys, artwork, family heirlooms the tears came in waves. All I could do was cry out to God for help. How does one get a lifetime of memories into two suitcases a person? My husband was already in Maine. He had been living between the two Countries since we were married. Being an eel and lobster fisherman there wasn’t much work for him in land locked Winnipeg. So I had 8 suitcases I could fill, but we were also all needed clothing lol. At first it was so hard then a cathartic peace washed over me, a peace that can only come from the Holly Spirit. I know this because I could not ever have done it under my own strength. I should have known then that something  big was in the works. But I was to involved with the task at hand, and thinking to hard about anything seemed overwhelming and completely daunting.IMG_9423

We settled into our beautiful quaint home just at the hight of spring and it was gorgeous. I had a beautiful and romantic introduction to Maine. The simple and refreshing way many live their lives here was so foreign to me but so exciting. I was born and raised in a city,  but I have always been a county girl at heart. So deeply renewed and refreshed by the simplicity of Gods beautiful creation. But as the Summer came to a close. Fall was usered in by cool winds and foliage that I’d never seen before, it was breathtaking! The tourists all went home and the Island became quiet. The reality that I was not in Kansas anymore began to hit and God came in like wild-fire. I have struggled my whole life with mental health and feelings of inadequacy. As a result I probably had a pretty co-dependant relationship with my mother. For she was how I processed my life, she was my filter. I was taught not to trust my own perception. But out here I was on my own and had no choice but to find my feet. But well I didn’t find my feet in the way I thought a person should. What I am finding are these beautifully well made footprints to follow in the snow. Growing up on the Canadian prairies finding a path someone else has already made that morning in the newly fallen 4ft of snow it like winning a lottery! This is what I feel its like, there is this constant blizzard of life I am trying to find my way through. First there is my everyday life and the stuff that comes up. Being a momma of three kids 2,8,11 a wife, homeschooler a hobby homesteader and trying to run a lifestyle business, oh my gosh the hats I try on lol! Then there is the years of fog I’m trying to let go of and find my true self within. So there in lies the blizzard but everyday I seem to somehow find this well made footprint path to follow and when I stray it’s so darn deep I simply can’t continue and am lovingly reminded to make my way back to the path. So as the walls began to close and I was feeling very lost out here at the end of the world. I had a very vivid dream. Our family owned a farm, a beautiful large property with tons of land, and on it was our family home, a church, a daycare, a school, and a  leadership retreat. We had a beautiful private home hobby farm and many animals. I woke up from this dream so full of hope and overflowing with ideas and inspiration. But how in the world was any of this ever going to happen. We had been house hunting for months already and there was NO WAY we could afford anything that would allow us that much space. So I just continued to pray and daydream not ever knowing what was in store. Now fast forward 1 year and God has given us an amazing home with 17 acres so much room to grow and develop the property into whatever He leads us towards. Right now its a daily comical development of a city atheist, pop culture “pretty girl’  becomes an accidental  homeschooling, homesteading, crunchy christian. My mom was recently teasing me in a phone conversation that I can’t seem to fit into a box. I always seen to be pushing boundaries no matter what I do. Even as I sit here writing this I am constantly interrupted by having to go shoo our  free ranging flock of chickens out of my garden! They are eating all my sprouts, an experienced farmer would probably have had some forethought there. Yesterday I had to go rescue a duckling who got his foot caught and is now hobbling around with a splint made from a broken bbq skewer, old sweatpants and medical tape! We have lovingly named this lovely little duckling Watermelon. After spending a few weeks in the basement under a heat lamp the littles were finally able to move out to the barn with the ladies (our 9 chickens). Our children often share their fruit and veggie scraps from their various snacks out in the yard with them. Calling them over and tossing them apple cores carrots nubs of whatever they happen to be nibbling. This particular duckling got his name after our eldest son accidentally hit the duckling over the head when tossing his watermelon rind. The poor little tyke was knocked right over behind over tea kettle, for a moment they were all very concerned! But he soon shook it off and waddled away. But this is now the THIRD event for this little duck so we are beginning to question if this rind incident may have caused permanent damage. We can’t ever share these thoughts with our poor son though he’s still traumatized about the whole thing. So off little Watermelon hobbles with his homemade duckie splint with prayer and well wishes.

My essential oils are spread from one end of our home to the other making salves, roller balls and sprays to deter bugs and treat the various bites, scraps and random rashes developing from being outside trying to develop and get this farm off the ground. My husband and I are learning as we go and its total trial by error. As I am forced to really think on the past few months I am overcome with Joy at how incredibly luck we are on so many levels. The work that is being done within our family through this scary life altering move across the country is nothing short of miraculous. This morning we bottled a new batch of fire cider, set kombucha and water kiefer to brew, made granola from scratch collected all the eggs, fed and watered the chickens, ducks and dog and its only 10:00am. We still have school to get through and tons of work developing and preparing the property and farm. What will become of our little endeavor only God truly knows. But the gifts and growth, awareness and lessons we are being given as individuals, a married couple, parents and a family are absolutely priceless. I am so thankful that I was plucked from my comfort zone. I was totally stuck and completely blind to it! If you offered my house back full of all our memories and things I would give them all away again to end up here. But even more I would also freely give up all we have built thus far here and start all over again for a second, third , fourth and fifth time. For I know now that one gains so much more through experiences, growth and giving. As opposed to holding on to the past protecting and guarding a vision of what we feel we should be attaining to find happiness. There is complete freedom in true surrender and release. I would not change our beautiful uncertain chaos for anything. That is possibly the biggest gift of them all a genuine thanks, love and appreciation for my life, my marriage our home our children absolutely just as they are. I adore you Adam Dragon you are my life and my heart forever, and I am so blessed to be on this crazy ride with you! God lead us and we will follow hand in hand ❤IMG_9555

When Sleeping Woman Wake Mountains will MOVE

Ok so I wanted to write the second part to my story. But as I sit here trying to knock something out in the limited amount of time I have before one of my three children or husband comes in and I have to step away yet a again. I am feeling lead to just simply write. Because really we all have these stories, these sagas and they have helped us become who we are today but they do not define us. They do however help us relate to each other and allow others to possibly learn and grow though us sharing them. But sometimes I feel like the more I talk about them the more I like etch it to my soul and the more I allow it to define my now and allow them to let me make excuses for myself. I feel sometimes like I’m speaking to the wind and whats the point of all the posts and blogs. Is anyone really even reading them? But well there is always a point and slowly He is revealing his plan as I go. If anyone would have told me even two years ago that I would get personal messages from people I barely know genuinely complimenting and thanking me for my candor or the recipe post I made, even asking advice!!! I seriously would have fallen off my chair! 7 years ago I was in an emergency room laying face down on a hospital bed as a doctor carefully picked out tiny shards of glass from my back with surgical tools. It was the result of yet another fight and the wine glass my husband had thrown at me. I’d love to say I left there and had made this cathartic breakthrough and from that moment on everything changed. But really if we are honest with ourselves does anything ever really work that way?! Is real true change instant or does it require deep raw ongoing hard work. Full of gut wrenching self-realization that sometimes we are not ready to face. It would have been very easy to blame my ex-husband. It would have been very easy to blame my father for leaving in search of a “better” life that didn’t really include us. Or blame a pharmaceutical company and failing medical system. But really where would all that blaming, explaining and excusing get me?  Through all of my therapy,  personal growth, development mentoring and schooling. The biggest obstacle I discovered I had, was me. I had had a life time of set backs and big events that I allowed to shape who I was but not in a way that served me. I personally have found recognizing that if I would like to be a happier more fulfilled person the only place to look is at myself the most encouraging and freeing discovery. Because guess what I can’t alter the actions of others or what happens around me. But I can choose how I act and react to everything. I am seeking a different result in my world I need to be the ripple of change I want to see in my life. It has been the hardest lifestyle shift to make yet. But the one that is making the biggest impact. Growing up in today’s world  we are hardwired for this mindset that holds very little accountability and our life skills can only ever really be as strong as the ones that were demonstrated to us. Unless we recognize a point of needed growth within ourselves we can become stuck. We may hold this beautiful vision of where we would like to see ourselves but not the faintest idea how to get there. We are so focused on looking at outward sources that we lack the skills of looking within. We are educated more by teachers and care staff than our families, we see doctors when we are sick and psychologists when we feel sad. We watch a movie when we are board and go to the drive thru when we are hungry, get a new dress or lipstick when we are feeling down on our bodies. Buy a big house and nice car when we want to feel and appear successful. My gosh the list could go on and on and is the source of this perpetuating circle of individuals who are like me stuck and unable to find a way out. I never thought the hardest skill I would need to learn was ME. I recently heard the most poignant quote.

“I am not here for your understanding of me. I am here for your understanding of who you are. I am your mirror. How you feel about me, what you see in me, the thoughts that arise of your encounter of me, the judgments you hold about me are all reflections of you. They have nothing to do with me.” Emily Maroutian

I was guilty of looking at everyone and everything in my life making excuses, finding fault and placing blame. I saw so much injustice in the cards I was handed and faulted those who were a part of them. But life really is pretty simple if we can learn to know ourselves sit with our heartbreak accept the injustices as an opportunity for growth and change. Look to those people you’ve separated from yourself because they challenged you, and explore why. I truly believe we have the power to speak life or death over ourselves and our lives with the power of our thoughts, actions and words. More often than not we are our biggest obstacle. And our complaints are e reflection of the areas within ourselves that requires some unpacking and growth. What is holding you back? Look in the mirror voice out loud the blame and fault you have misplaced that you feel is the reason for your road block. Then truly reflect on if they are an accurate source in hinderance or simply a reflection of your own personal areas where you might be avoiding truth and growth. I challenge you to stop blaming and complaining and be the change you wish to see in your life. Then you will find true release and growth. Get out of your own way. Be all that you are called to be. I feel like often God places specific people and situations in our life because he needs you to be brought to your knees by the challenge so he can speak in to you and weed out that which needs to Go!

Biblical Healing and Whole Wellness

It is imperative that we recognize our lifestyle and eating habits pollute our temple, break down our immune system and cause us to be sick. Sickness is simply the body reacting to us putting something into it that God did not intend or design for it to have. Until steps are taken to recognize and remove the cause of disease and suffering, only degeneration an early death will result. Bible puts it this way and we must learn “be not deceived, God is not mocked, for whatsoever a man soweth that shall he reap” Galatians 6:7. We cannot eat the diet of this world and enjoy perfect health and vitality. The choices we make determine whether we live in sickness or health.

If we choose to have abundant life, it will be necessary to change the diet and lifestyle to which we have been accustomed or addicted. Although it initially may sound difficult and restrictive to obtain optimal health it is the only choice we have. Our heavenly father set laws for our infinite good to preserve life and allow his children to attain their highest possible state of wellness. He made no boundaries on what we may attend, but our diet and lifestyle choices often limit us when we knowingly or unknowingly violate his natural laws. When we bring our lifestyle into alignment with God’s laws, most physical problems just simply begin to be washed away.

Yes, God wants his children to be well, and he is able to heal our broken bodies just like when he walked among us. However, we are called to be reverent of his natural laws! When natural laws are violated, we reap the consequences of our actions. Many Christians want to live the way they like, eat what they want, and then they get sick and some blame and question Him. But God very clearly warns us and calls us to reject worldly was the flesh and driving selfish nature of want and need placed in us by sin. As we humble ourselves and become obedient to our creator and the natural and physical laws he established, we will realize that it is a privilege and indeed an honor to serve God and honor his Holy temple.

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and destroy: I come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” John 10:10

In today’s world most have strayed so far from the guidelines we have been given in the Bible. We have violated all the natural laws God provided at the time of creation, and we have become complacent about our health. We except illness as a normal part of life. So let’s consider some of the reasons why it is imperative for us to get back to a biblical understanding of nutrition and lifestyle. Too often we feel the need to seek physicians, whom we have been taught have the cure for all our ills. When in fact what Physicians do is address, alleviate and suppress symptoms. However, prevention and maintenance are much easier and certainly more cost effective. But that would affect the powers at be bottom line. So it is not the primary focus. Having a population that remains generally unwell is much more profitable than a population that is objective and aware. Is important for everyone to learn how to more effectively implement these natural laws that God has given. God set before us life and death and asked us to choose life. He did not leave us with out some guidelines to follow. These guidelines are quite simple and are found in the Bible and in nature all around us. These guidelines do not stress the body nor will they tax the emotions, even though they contain tremendous powers. The guidelines God gave us are

-proper nutrition

-pure air

-pure water

-active lifestyle

-sunshine

-adequate rest

-thankful and grateful faithful spirit

The sad and unfortunate truth is as a people we have adulterated and negatively impacted every single one of these required sources for life. There is no longer any pure source of nutrition due to pesticides and soil nutrient depletion we have adulterated our food source with GMO’s. Our air is laden with toxic irritants and our bodies are under constant attack. There is no longer a pure source of water on our planet. And our lifestyles are that of sedentary complacency. Often with attitudes of blame and Great lack of responsibility. If we believe he created us than we realize the reality is that someone designed and created us. And if someone designed and created us we have just like a vehicle requirements to maintain our optimal performance. They cannot run on just anything and remain functioning at top capacity and capability. If we don’t change our oil for example eventually our vehicle will fall into disrepair and stop working We in our ignorance and unbelief, have totally changed and adulterated gods plan, and the result is sickness, disease and unhappiness. We can’t serve the Lord in a sick body, so it is time to take responsibility for our own bodies and health and not leave it up to anyone else or blame other people or outside causes for our declining state. God has not failed us. He is the same yesterday today and forever. We my friends are the ones who have gone astray. I invite you to truly meditate upon this. Digging to his word and ask him what he has for you to do in this area.

The first year – a Journey through postpartum depression

NOTE; THIS POST IS EMOTIONAL & COULD BE TRIGGERING FOR SOME

Once the c-section was was complete, I laid there… wondering what was next. They took Benjamin up to the maternity ward, I was left in the operating room for a half hour. The room was cold, I could not move, and my husband and baby had left. That was the longest half hour.

I clearly remember them moving me from the table to a bed, I just looked at my legs.. they felt like weighted 1 000 lbs! I had no control or feeling, it was so strange. I was thankful when I was finally on my way up! I was greeted in the maternity ward hallway by my husband holding our little 4 lbs 15 oz peanut. He was so small, and also not impressed. He had just gotten his vitamin K shot. He was just the cutest little peanut ever! For most of the nurses, he was the smallest baby they have ever had on the ward.

That night the nurses decided to keep Benjamin in a separate room than me. There was no nursery at this hospital … but they needed to keep a close eye on him. He was placed in an incubator, his umbilical cord was kept long and moist to have IV access if needed. (thank goodness they did not need to use it)

It was really appreciated that they had let me rest for the rest of the night and morning. We had one nurse on staff that night that was a blessing. She used to work at a children’s hospital, she had been around many premies and even super-premies. She had figured out a way to get Benjamin to start sucking, she gave him a pacifier and fed him formula through a syringe and feeding tube! This was amazing, it did not take him long before he was able to take a bottle.

I was trying to breast feed in the beginning, but because he was so small I had to supplement him with formula anyways. I was breast feeding with a nipple shield, pumped and supplemented. This was when I found out that not all women are built to breast feed. I was one of them. Plus having a baby with such a tiny mouth.. there was no way he was getting a good latch. This was all very exhausting, emotionally and physically.

carseat-1

Finally after 4 days in the hospital we were able to leave. Benjamin left weighing 4.5 lbs, did you know that this is the minimum weight for a car seat… I had never even thought about that until we got so many comments over the fact that he was so small. Unfortunately, this became a trigger for me… that saying that he was so small. Thank you world I know he is small! I was starting to get very frustrated over those comments. No mater how big he got people always thought he was younger than what he actually was. At that time I had a hard time processing this, but I know that he was premie and I should of not taken those comments negatively. However, in that mindset it was just too much for me.

A lot of my friends and co-workers were shocked with the news about the delivery, they had so many questions for me. I was initially okay with talking about everything, but after a while it got really frustrating and really sad. People would make comments like     “well at least you don’t have stretch marks”, that’s just it! I missed 5 weeks of my pregnancy! I don’t know what it feels to be very uncomfortable, I don’t know what it feels like to have your water break, I don’t know what contractions feel like, and the list goes on. All these things are some what of a right of passage into mother hood. After a while I started describing it as being robbed of my last 5 weeks of pregnancy. That’s right, robbed! There was no answers as to why I had a severe placenta abrupto and that really messed with my mind.

I started loosing my mind. There were times where he would cry so much that I would just make him a bottle, and bring him to my neighbours to care for him for a few hours. I would be in tears, not believing that I mentally could not do it at that time. Other times, I would just place him in his crib and would go sit on the front step of the house. I just needed a break. I hated the fact that I couldn’t not mentally deal with it. I thought motherhood was supposed to be something amazing. I was in denial of having depression. I did not know exactly what was going on. I hated the person that I had become. I used to be oh so bubbly, always able to stand my ground. This was not me. What did I become.

I had officially lost my smile…

Cannabinoid

The human body has many different types of nerve receptors. Nerve receptors can be thought of as groups of nerve endings. One type of nerve receptor naturally found throughout the human body is the cannabinoid receptor. It is so named because molecules found in cannabis interact with it. However, other natural components have been found to interact with cannabinoid receptors in a non-psychoactive manner.

Caryophyllene is a sesquiterpene found in high amounts in black pepper, ylang ylang, and Melissa essential oil. It activates a specific type of cannabinoid receptors that is being studied for many benefits, but has no psychoactive activity, called cannabinoid receptors type two, or CB2.

Activating CB2 with caryophyllene is being studied from any benefits, including that of supporting the body’s normal immune response to inflammatory stressors such as intense exercise. These receptors are present immune cells as well as some regions of the brain and brain stem. Caryophyllene’s support of healthy cell growth may also be tied activating CB2 receptors.

I personally have been using this to support my left brain function. I have been very open in sharing my story. And due to my history, my body was placed in a constant state of fight or flight for years. This suppressed my left brain function. Your left brain is the analytical side that has great attention to detail, mathematics, art self-expression beauty and joy. It has taken a long time for me to have the space in my life to begin healing. And the farther my research takes me the more I feel driven to share. We all have a story and I believe He gives it to us for a very specific reason. And I intend to tell mine over and over and give all the glory to HIM. He alone has brought me to where I am today. Has given me the support and space in my life to explore natural holistic approaches to health that has absolutely changed our families life. He put everything in front of me that I needed as well as the individuals to help me learn with and grow.
