Why we don’t purchase doTERA through Amazon;

1. You get what you pay for – the essential oil industry is growing at a fast rate. Many people are in it for the money and not for the true therapeutic benifits of the oil. The caps and seals can be purchased for next to nothing and it is way too simple to dilute or even replace the oils that are in the bottles. Amazon has no control over this and it is scary to think of what’s out there and what is being portrayed as an essential oil.

2. As of March 31, 2016 there are no authorized doTERRA sellers on Amazon.

3. Community support – there is a lot to learn when it comes to essential oils. It’s a journey and is not something that will happen overnight. We have an amazing community set it place to help, guide and support you in any way imaginable! If you purchase from Amazon you do not receive any of that.

Copaiba

I was previously very impressed with Charlottes Web CBD Oil and would often recommend it to clients. But the pice tag was SHOCKING and still ran the risk of possible THC interactions 😔 If you don’t know about medical marijuana or hemp, aka CBD, then you need to know that there are two components that have an affect on our body systems – CBD and THC.

CBD interacts with our CB2 receptors and gives us incredible therapeutic benefits such as:

Renewing Blend

Using essential oils for emotional and behavioural support is a tool I implement often, both in myself personally our family and when advising clients. I’m so excited to see more research coming out daily on these incredible tools!

Dr. Rena Szabo, PsyD, CAADC, MA, Med, Psychology Director of the Psychology Department in an Integrative Oncology Clinic, shared the research she did in her clinic using the dōTERRA Emotional Blends.

She began by testing the care providers before using essential oils and this was what she found:

37-44% of providers struggle with compassion fatigue

32-78% of oncology care providers experience symptoms of burnout

For the first 6 months no oils were diffused in the clinic. For the next 6 months, they diffused a different Emotional oil blend each month. Every employee was surveyed weekly.

Stress levels before oils were 69%. After diffusing oils, the rate dropped to 49%.

61% of the team felt overwhelmed before oils. After diffusing the oils it dropped to 32%.

There was a significant increase in positive feelings and a considerable decrease in negative feelings ( from 75% down to 58%).

The blend of Forgive had a 100% rate of effectiveness in significantly increasing positive feelings! Runners up were, Cheer, Passion and Motivate.

The most effective blend for decreasing negative feelings was ALSO Forgive. It was found to decrease negative feelings by 68% just by diffusing it in the room.

We grow up hearing about how unique each of us is, but we often forget that our uniqueness goes down to the cellular level. Modern Science has made tremendous advances in understanding human DNA, and now we’re able to easily use genetic research to our advantage, especially when it comes to our diet. A few years, even months ago the though of allowing  another “scientific” approach to influence my health whatsoever would have sent me SCREAMING for the hills. But then I had to sit with that for a minute (or months LOL) Has it n to been my prayer that the medical and holistic community would find some middle ground and begin working together?

To understand this concept a little better, here are a few definitions to know:

  • Genome means the genetic material that you’re born with: your DNA. This cannot be changed—think “written on stone plates with lightening.”
  • Epigenome means the network of chemical compounds that interacts with the genome by directing which genetic material to activate or which to leave inactive—the mechanism that “turns on” or “turns off” your DNA. The epigenome is affected by personal health, diet, nutrition, exercise, and other lifestyle choices—think “written in pencil”—thus affecting which genetic material is active.
  • Nutrigenomics is a field that combines the study of nutrition and gene expression. Scientists working in this field investigate how nutrients and other bioactive components in food affect important metabolic and physiological processes by “turning on” or “turning off” certain genes.

Turning genes on and off? It may sound to good to be true, but it’s very real. Nutrigenomics has come a long way in a short time and has developed a wealth of information that can be used by anyone concerned about personalizing and truly understanding their healthcare plan. Dr. Ahmed El-Sohemy, one of the top researchers in the nutrigenomics field, investigates how the foods we eat interact with our genes to affect our health. in one paper he reports.

  • Compounds found in broccoli can switch on a gene that helps the body detoxify some of the chemicals we’re exposed to every day. This gene is missing in about 20% of the general population who won’t get the detoxification benefits (though they will still get the other benefits of healthy eating).
  • In some people, creatine supplementation provides large increases in performance and increases lean mass. In others with different DNA, there is no response at all.
  • Studies with caffeinated coffee show that for some individuals, drinking coffee lowers the risk of heart attacks. But in other individuals, the same dose of coffee actually increases the risk of heart attacks.

Different foods and substances affect each of us differently? That’s why some people may bulk up with creatine and others don’t notice any benefits. And it’s also why your body may have a more difficult time losing weight. Than your friend while following the same diet. The research in nutrigenomics has also found that what food tells your genes affects your metabolism. Mark Hyman describes nutrigenomics like this:

  • The new science of nutrigenomics teaches us what specific foods tell your genes. What you eat directly determines the genetic messages your body receives. These messages, in turn, control all the molecules that constitute your metabolism: the molecules that tell your body to burn calories or store them. If you can learn the language of your genes and control the messages and instructions they give your body and your metabolism, you can radically alter how food interacts with your body, lose weight, and optimize your health.

The implications of this research are huge. It determines, for example, why certain medications work for some people, but not for others, or why people need different doses of medication. And while studies often show inconsistencies about how nutrients, supplements, and other bioactives work in the body, everything depends on the DNA of the subjects being studied.

This has lead me to ponder then how effective supplementation is? I have always been a huge advocate for it! It fact our home prioritizes or small budget to ensuring we all have proper supplementation even on our very modest income. But maybe a better approach would be for science and holistic health to work hand in hand to discover how we can eat to support our specific body activation. Encouraging it to carry out the tasks it was designed for. But not functioning at highest capacity due to the negative impact our lifestyle has had on our environment, food and water supply as well as heal care system and wellness education. No longer guessing what we need and providing supplements based on symptoms (a body does not even exhibit symptoms unless that system is functioning at less than 60%). But truly understanding and respecting our unique and wicked temples and the care they require! So many of us go through our lives without ever truly understanding how what we eat effects our overall health and wellness. We never consider to suspect that the foods we do or don’t eat every day are the source of this decades sate of health. The amount of food sensitives that go ignored and misunderstood are in my opinion a epidemic. Most of us go through our lives living with symptoms we’ve had for so long our brains have just literally learned to suppress them but unfortunately our bodies themselves do not really have that choice. What happens is simply a domino where one thing continues to cascade into another. All creeping on so slowly that for myself personally I had no clue, I truly had been feeling so horribly until I began to heal. Functioning in this space of cyclical depression and defeat. But sort making the best of it? 🙂 Until we get our heads out of the sand and recognize our uniqueness we are not going to  learn grow and succeed. What we put in our bodies is the source of all disease a predisposition  dose not guarantee disease unless we activate it. And this activation or symptom is going to look different in each of us depending on our gene makeup. But the source is the same, your NUTRITION or lack they of.

I am a woman very strong in my Faith and the more I read his word and understand him the better I can understand myself and my temple. As I begin to truly comprehend his crazy love for us leads me to believe he would never live us hear without everything we ever needed right from day one here on this earth. Understanding this leads we to see and accept the concept of what a interconnected fantastic eco system he has created not only around us but in us! And just like the delicate eco system of the animals our way of life is rendering extinct. We to can be throw completely off by a simple imbalance that sets off  a chain reaction within us. Once we as a people are able to understand hoe truly wholly and uniquely our bodies function. We will be able to truly support true healing and overall general simple health and wellness my living as GOD calls us to be. Respectful stewards of HIS temple for we are the dwelling place of his holly spirit.

How stress affects the body

According to the national Institute of mental health, 75 to 90% of all doctor visits in the US are stress related ailments and complaints. Sometimes major life events, such as divorce, loss of a loved one, financial problems, the birth or loss of a child, can combine with genetic or biological pre-dispositions to prompt I stress related health crisis. Our culture often encourages a dependence on doctors, drugs, and healthcare systems to fix and heal these physical and emotional ailments . Yet it is widely known and excepted within the medical community that learned behaviors and lifestyle choices, such as poor stress management, in adequate nutrition, physical in-activity, insufficient sleep, smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, are major contributors to illness and diminished quality of life. I don’t know about you but I don’t see a huge need for medical intervention here. Why do we fixate on diagnosis and treatment, whereas a wellness lifestyle focuses on education self awareness, and prevention. And I am on a mission to provide that!!!! Why would we merely treat a disease and symptom. What we should be doing is exploring the lifestyle that causes it and addressing what lies beneath the disease and it symptom. Our thoughts, feelings, believes, habits, and choices are fueling the fires of inflammation, pain, toxicity, and illness in our bodies. By addressing the root causes of these diseases rather than merely treating the symptoms we can assist the body and healing itself!!!!!

Supporting Family Healing

How I support our families healing. Firstly I work very hard to reduce our toxic load and ease stress on our body systems. I explain it to them like this. Our bodies all have their our individual personal army. But we only have one and it protects and fights on behalf of us against all and any threats. Weather they are chemical threats like stress and emotional imbalance or a physical cut scraped bruise or boo boo. But also a threats from a potential germ invasion 😳🤒😷 even potential genetic traits can be allowed to develop fully.
So if our bodies are taxed by trying to manage our every day life choices. That tax on our system weather it’s from synthetic fragrance, chemical based products, inflammatory foods, foods that encourage overproduction of mucus, caffeine that simulates our bodies synthetically and can irritate emotional imbalances. The list could go on and on and ON. We are reducing our army’s resources taxing it and spreading our army very thin throughout our bodies. This does not then allow for much retroactive work! Or allow it very effective defences in our everyday life.
I am very conscious with our diet and the products used in our home. I research and use high quality targeted age appropriate supplements to support their specific needs. I do extra things daily like spraying our beds with a on guard sheet spray to protect us form any allergens that may have been trying to settle in our beds.
I have the kids regularly smell our apothecary of essential oils and have them share the oils they are drawn to as well as the ones they are not digging that day. I turn to my incredible emotions and Essential Oils wheel to see how best to support them that day. If there is a real heavy emotion attached to a oil that day. I try to carefully give some support in that area throughout our day and give them the opportunity to talk if they are feeling moved to do so. This is a area that I would say has made some of the deepest change. The insightful deep meaningful conversations that I have been blessed to share with our boys as a result of the essential oils are invaluable and immeasurable. We have prayer and quite time together daily to ensure we all remain connected to our faith and find peace in our day with him. We stretch our bodies and do deep breathing exercises as a family in our first school break. We use prayer and positive affirmation to begin encouraging new emotional track work and chemical reactions within our body as they rally to the various causes of our day that happen both to us and around us. I try to ensure their day flows with consistency so they may find comfort in expectation of what’s to come and know what to expect and what’s expected of them.
Lastly I’m human and when I fail I try to be vulnerable honest and offer sincere apologies. I try to talk at their level obviously and ensure it appropriate about what might be going on with me and how I might be feeling. Kids often have these big feelings and emotions running around their heads that they couldn’t even begin to explain or put words to because they don’t understand them or where they came form. Including them on my emotional process and how I connect feelings to events and experiences allows them to explore their little lives and gives him an example about how they might begin to unpack what might be bothering them.
